Dark lip colors are super trendy and have been for quite some time. Despite Spring coming, I don’t think this is going to change, so today I wanted to share some tips with you on how to get the perfect vampy lip.
Exfoliating your lips is a must! Don’t want to spend money on an expensive lip exfoliator? No worries! Grab some honey & brown sugar and make your own!
I like to mix 1 teaspoon of honey with 1 teaspoon of brown sugar! That’s it! You can be fancy & add an essential oil to it to make it fragrant if you like! I recommend lemon essential oil!
After you exfoliate, apply a super hydrating chapstick and leave this on while you do the rest of your makeup.
After you’ve finished your makeup, rub in the chapstick and wipe off the excess with a clean tissue. You can put concealer over your lips if you’d like to cancel out your lip color before applying the other lip products if you’d like, but this isn’t necessary.
The next thing you’ll want to do is grab a deep lip liner and line your lips. You’ll want to do this carefully, and if you want your lip color to last longer, I suggest filling in your lips with the pencil.
One of my favorite lip liners for this is MAC Nightmoth:
After you’ve lined your lips, then you can apply your dark lip color over this. Take your time!
One of my favorite vampy colors is Nyx Matte Lip Cream in the shade Transylvania.
After you’ve applied your lip color, re-line your lips to make sure everything is crisp! You can go around the edges with a concealer that matches your skin tone to make it look perfect.
If you made a mistake, no worries! Just wipe that bit off and begin again.
Pro tip: Wipe inward, not outward. You don’t want lipstick or lipstick stains all over your face!
One last tip:
No one wants lipstick on their teeth. To prevent this once you’ve applied your lip color and you’ve done all of the finishing touches, take your pointer finger, put it in your mouth, close your lips around it and pull it out. That will remove the excess color that would have inevitably ended up on your teeth at the absolute worst time. You can do this 2-3 times to ensure you’ve removed all of the excess color.
That’s all of the tips I have for you today!
I hope this post was helpful.
I know it’s a bit late with it being Spring and all, but vampy lips are still in and these tips work for all red & bright lip colors as well.
