There have been a lot of water serum foundation released recently, and today I want to talk about the first one I’ve tried, Pur Minerals Hydra Fluid Foundation.
I honestly had no idea what to expect from this foundation. I was super excited to try it because I have extremely dry skin and this sounded like just what I need.
I’ve been wearing this foundation pretty frequently and I feel like I can give it a true review now.
First off, the packaging is a squeeze tube with a pointed tip. This makes it very easy to dispense the amount you need, which is a super small amount.
As far as application, before dispensing the foundation make sure you shake it up really well because it does separate slightly. I’ve applied this with a brush, beauty blender and my fingers and the brush works the best. The beauty blender soaks a lot of it up.
The coverage on this varies, depending on how much you apply. One layer will get you light-medium coverage. Enough to even out your skin tone and make you look really healthy. A second layer bumps up the coverage to a strong medium coverage.
It doesn’t cake up or look like you’re wearing makeup. It sits well on the skin and looks super natural, even on my dry skin. I have very large pores and it doesn’t seem to sink into them either, which is a common issue for me. I don’t know how much someone with oily skin would like it as it’s dewy, but for dry skin this is perfect.
Whether you set it or not is up to you, I find that I don’t need to and it sets on its own.
This also lasts all day on me, but as I’ve mentioned, I have dry skin.
Oh, and it does oxidize a little.
There are 5 shades in this range, which covers light skin tones to deeper skin tones, but it’s not all encompassing by any means. The lightest shade is almost too dark for me to use, so that’s something to consider.
Light, Medium, Tan, Dark, Deep.
Overall, I really like this foundation. If you have dry-normal-combo skin, I definitely recommend trying it out. I really think it would work for oily skin as well, as long as you set it.
Here’s what it looks like on my skin:
