Nyx Lip Lingerie Review & Swatches

Recently I purchased a few of the newer Nyx lip products. Today I’m going to talk about the Lip Lingerie. The Lip Lingerie from Nyx is a matte liquid lipstick.

I purchased two shades, Embellishment and Babydoll.

Embellishment is a muted purple shade.

Babydoll is described as a nude pink but looks more peachy in my opinion.

I’ve been testing these colors out and I have to say I’m torn.

I tried Embellishment first. The consistency is thin and kind of mousse-y, similar to the soft matte lip creams. It went on smooth in one layer and dried down to a nice matte. It didn’t transfer and wasn’t sticky but stayed comfortable on my lips without being drying. I wore it all day, even ate with it on and it stayed put. I absolutely love the shade and formula for this color.

Liquid Lipstick Review

The next day I tried Babydoll. It was streaky and didn’t want to layer, but after a few minutes of trying to even it out, I left it alone. It kind of dried, but in a very unflattering way. It sunk into every line in my lips and stayed sticky. It came off in random patches on anything that touched my lips and if my lips touched each other, it felt like I had elmer’s glue on my lips. It was totally gross. I made it a couple of hours and was so grossed out I had to take it off.

So, because I loved Embellishment so much, I tried Babydoll again the next day. I made sure to exfoliate and moisturize my lips very well before applying it and applied the smallest amount possible. It was a little uneven and streaky, but I left it and let it dry. Despite using less, it was the exact same result. Moral of the story? Don’t buy Babydoll.

I want to try more of these because I really love the formula of Embellishment. I have to assume it’s going to be hit or miss on the formula, and that’s really disappointing but I kind of expected it because that’s how the soft matte lip creams are as well. Some colors are amazing and others are kind of awful.

Here are a couple of pictures with me wearing them:

You can find them at Ulta for around $7.

If you’ve tried these, what colors worked for you? I really want more of them but I don’t want to feel like I’m wasting my money.

Thanks for reading!
